Module "Architectural Design Studio IV" lead by Mr. Nazmi Anuar.
Module concentrates on the spatial qualities and environmental sustainability for users and for community. Both awareness are demonstrated in both projects, "RE : Play" and "Community Recycling, Repurposing, Reclaiming Center". Students are expected to demonstrate applications of knowledge gained from Environmentally Sustainable Design and Building Science 1 modules from prior semesters.

Module Outline
Project 1RE : Play | Children | Outdoor Playscape
Objectives: 1. To develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design. 2. To develop the student’s ability to meet the imperative and inter-related environmental and social needs, as well as make poetry with materials and spaces. 3. To further develop understandings on human scale, proportion, ergonomics and materiality. Tasks: In a group of 3, students work together as a team and select the reusable materials to be repurposed for their design of a playscape. In addition, each group is required to understand the needs a child aged 7 to 12 that will constitute the ‘user’ of the Playscape. |

Conclusion
This group project calls for a design of a playscape for children.
We designed the playscape according to our understanding of how children imitates each other to learn. The playscape caters platforms for multiple activities ascending and leading to a goal to attract the children and allow them to imitate each other's actions as well as following the path of one another within the playscape.
This project teaches me to see children in a different perspective and to involve the design of a playscape around the anatomy and ergonomics of children. I had also learned to utilize the properties of sustainable material accordingly to the designs and to spark a different ambiance within the space. Spatial quality is highly considered in the playscape.

Project 2Community | Recycling, Repurposing, Reclaiming | Center
Objectives: 1. To develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design 2. To develop the student’s ability to meet the imperative and inter-related environmental and social needs, as well as make poetry with the buildings 3. To emphasize on space planning of clusters of buildings Tasks: Based off site analysis conducted of the given site (Taman Desa), students are to design a community recycling, repurposing & reclaiming center. |

Progress:
I approached the design of the recyling center with the concept to embrace nature, and to bring in the community within one public yet enclosed space. Recycling processes from collection area to workshop and storage are highlighted and showcased to public without obstruction in visual connectivity. The gallery serves prominent in the building, as a drawing card to attract community to building, to highlight the contrast between urban and nature by framing views, as well as to educate the visitors on importance of recycling practices. The amphitheatre is a reincarnation of playscape from previous project based off the requirement of project. Ascension to highlight the heighten the experience of user, creating impression by enhancing tactile experience, as well as attracting and evoking curiosity of community are concepts applied to the building.

Final Outcome
Conclusion
This project teaches me to discover and incorporate sustainable materials and designs to reflect importance and the goals of a recycling, repurpose, reclaim center. It also teaches me to utilize the physical and social context of the site location to further enhance on the 'Community' of a community recycling center. Visual connections are constantly attended to in the design of the building, in order to focus on the contrasting elements between nature and urban around site location. The increased scale of building size compared to previous project also teaches me to focus more on the Spatial circulations of each demographics of users for individual purposes. The common spaces in between are considered for the importance of incorporating higher amount of 'Public' users.
